Bootstrapping a B2B logistics platform
Creating, managing, and growing a wholesale marketplace.
Four years ago I launched my first company. Over time we became a matchmaker, connecting retailers with the brands they know and love. Below is a brief chronology of what the team and myself have accomplished along the way.
Launched March 2016
Launch with five vendors, 350 products, and seven buyers.
Become first B2B wholesale platform in the pet industry to integrate invoice splitting and payment processing.
End 2016 with 60+ clients.
Spring 2017, 2.0 platform is released
We launch an integrated wholesale POS system for use in meetings and trade shows.
Client on-boarding increases to ~25 per month.
Summer 2018, 3.0 platform is released at our trade show
The third iteration of our platform provides in depth product, order, and inventory management services for our manufacturers.
We integrate live shipping estimates for retailers and label printing for 100+ manufacturers worldwide.
March 2019, South East Asia operations open
Launch satellite office.
Wholesale subscription beta launches.
Reach 850+ clients.
We are asked to develop a wholesale and logistics platform for another company.
October 2019, Launch strategic partnership with a traditional distributor
Hit 1000+ clients.
Beta testing for platform wide credit lines and Net30-90 terms begins.
Launch SampleStation, in-store product testing and market research for all our brands.
Platform wide credit lines and Net30-90 terms launches.
Shelf program launches, retailers give us space in their stores to place our brands for free.
February 2020, Coronavirus spreads through U.S.
Industry trade shows suffers 50%+ decrease in attendance.
March 2020, NYC shuts down
SampleStation program is placed on hold.
Shelf program is placed on hold.
April 2020, Begin development of virtual trade show and conference platform
Start transitioning SampleStation and Shelf clients to new virtual trade show platform.
Open trade show to entire pet industry.
Currently we have begun collaborations with industry partners to grow our show.
August 2020, Launch platform and two day show
Secured title sponsor for the show.
Launched live two day event with over 400 businesses in attendance.
Entered into talks to sell platform technology for other shows and events.
